Steve and I took a breastfeeding class at the hospital last night and it was pretty awesome. We learned a lot about breastfeeding and it's amazing benefits. I am probably more worried about being able to breastfeed than I am about the whole delivery because breastfeeding can take so long to learn (for me and for the baby). It was interesting to learn some statistics of breastfeeding. The CDC recommends babies only get breast milk for the 1st 6 months, they also recommend breast feeding for minimum of 1 year. The WHO recommends 2 years of breastfeeding. In other countries the average age of weaning from breast is 4 years old! So crazy. These statistics put a little more pressure on an already stressful topic. Not everyone is able to easily breastfeed, so I am going to try my hardest but know that it shouldn't be a hill to die on. We will just have to see....
