Another green flag

Things are moving along nicely. We had our 24 week doctor's appt. We heard little Connor's heart beat (which is actually the first time for us b/c we've had so many ultrasounds that they never used the doppler). The doctor had a look at my belly, did a little measurement and gave us a bunch of paperwork for the hospital. Now we need to chose a pediatrician, go to all our birth prep classes, and let the baby cook.

What's in a name?

I was actually surprised at how easily Steve and I came to a consensus on the name of our first born child. I have had a running list for my whole life and none of those names were too appealing to Steve. I had some silly requirements for the name (the kid has to be able to say it, not too hard to spell in Kindergarten, not too crazy/offbeat, etc). I would have loved a family name but none really "go" with the last name Cox (i.e you all know my dad's name is Harry, so Harry Cox would be a little inappropriate!) We came up with a short list and narrowed it down to Jacob and Connor. Steve preferred Connor as the first name and I preferred Jacob (Jake for short). Steve went away on a business trip the week before Father's Day and while he was gone I reconsidered my choice. I got him a Father's Day card for him and while signing "Love, Stacy" I wrote "and Connor". It seemed to flow off my pen and I liked the way it sounded. So Connor Jacob will be joining us in October. We aren't sure yet but we like the sound of C.J. for a nickname.

A happy father's day

We had a great barbeque at our place for Father's Day. Steve had a "typical" father's day, he got up early to break in his new smoker (a gift from me), took Brooklyn to the park to play frisbee, watched golf all day, and played his computer game. Then my family and his family came over, we chowed down, went for a swim, and even made a trip to the park with Josh. A great day.
