More food please!

Connor is a champ when it comes to eating. Just like his mom, he never refuses a meal and he has liked all the foods he has tried. A favorite has been tofu, here is a video of him eating it and sharing some with Brooklyn. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Srw7uGULV-o&feature=youtu.be

Beep Beep, backing up!

Connor is super mobile now! This past week he has been scooting and army crawling a ton, but only in the backward direction! He spins around to navigate around the den or the dining room, but then only moves in reverse. He likes to try to find little pieces of junk/dirt on the ground and today started actually licking the ground (the cold tile probably feels good on his tongue). He likes feeling the rugs and practices his pincher grasp by picking up little debris. As hard as we try to keep the floor kept up, he will find anything we leave behind! As least he will have a healthy immune system. Kathy, our nanny, also found him sitting up in the crib after his nap yesterday so he has figured out home to sit up from laying down and he also flops onto his belly from his sitting position, so real crawling is not far behind. All this movements makes for a hungry boy, so he is eating more and more each day (and night) which is throwing off his sleep schedule. But each day is different, so we are just working through it. Connor will be 9 months old Sunday, which is so crazy to me!

We have teeth!

It's official, Connor is growing up. He has a tooth and a second very close to poking through. And he has taken the teething like a champ! I didn't even know he was teething. He has always been a drooler and loves sticking things in his mouth. Today he was slightly fussy and had a bit of a runny nose (a symptom of teething) so I felt his lower gum line and yep-a sharp little tooth on the right bottom front. Wow, he is getting big!

Big boy swings, with his girlfriend Giselle

Connor went on his first "big boy swing" today at the park with his friend, Giselle. He loved it and giggled a lot. If you are having a bad day, just replay this video over and over again!

sleep!

Connor has never been a great sleeper and after we returned from Maui (where he slept in bed with us) and I returned to work, the sleep was really erratic. So we figured since none of us (not even Brooklyn) was well rested we needed to do something to help Connor get rest. So we researched and found that the Ferber method (although controversial) is very effective. The method basically tells you to put the babe in it's crib at night, awake. They then cry a bit to adjust to the new way of falling asleep (on their own, no rocking, singing, bottle or pacifier). Then you go in at different intervals (5 min, 7 min) progressively to reassure them. The first night was the worst, but he only cried for about 40 minutes. Then he slept from 830 until 1 am, we fed him and put him back down and he slept until 6. The next 3 nights in a row he has fallen asleep in his crib, with under 10 min of fussing. And SLEPT ALL NIGHT! Like 730 pm until 6 am. And what's even better, is he is taking 2 regular 1.5 to 2 hr naps. It has been amazing!

The boy loves to eat.

This kid must be a Cox/Sanders baby. He loves to eat and always has. So we started rice cereal (with lots of breast milk added) last night. He loved it. The first couple spoon fulls ran down his chin but he got the hang of it and was slurping it off the spoon after a couple minutes. He was grabbing at the spoon and cried if mommy was to slow to get it to his mouth. He also tried out a sippy cup with a tiny bit of water in it (just for practice). He really liked that too and grabbed both handles.

6 Months Old!

Connor had his 6 month birthday while we were on vacation in Maui. He is a lucky kid. So we went to the doctor yesterday and the doctor said he is doing great. He is 16.5 pounds and 27 inches long. He is 70% on height and close to 50% on weight, so he is a growing boy! He had 3 shots and an oral immunization and mommy went alone with him so we both did great. No tears shed from either of us!
On another note, we got home from Maui and had a message from the nanny, Kathy, calling in sick. She has a fever and has been very sick for the past couple days. So I had to ask my boss to take me off the schedule for today and Steve is staying home to watch Connor tomorrow. Hope she is better soon.
